#023
Welcome to this week's edition of Freelance Fuel, where, as always, we share curated content that will hopefully inspire your business or get you started.
Today we look at eReolen, your best friend for full focus, 99 years of wisdom from Charlie Munger, a friendly nudge to raise your prices, and 2023 wrapped freelancing style.
Let's get started.

📚 Free reading
Libraries don't exactly spoil us with great branding and a smooth user experience.
But what they don't have in expression, they deliver in content, and you can use the library app, eReolen, to read or listen to books for free. You can borrow 5 books per month.
5 books we recommend you start with:
- Think yourself rich (1937) by Napoleon Hill
- Everything is chargeable (2022) by Marie Forleo
- 3 Good Things (2019) by Mikael Kamber
- The art of not giving a f@*cking (2018) by Mark Manson
- Rich dad poor dad (1997) by Robert T. Kiyosaki
👨💻 A friend for the eternal procrastination
You've tried the pomodoro technique, time blocking, gray scale mode on your phone, the Eisenhower matrix, one sec, and all other things to help you stay focused.
But no luck!
👋 If you (also) are a born procrastinator, give Focusmate a shot.
The idea is simple: you are matched with another random user and choose whether you want to work for 25, 50 or 75 minutes. You each say what you're going to work on and what you expect to finish after your session.
Then mute the microphone and leave the video on.
It's an extremely simple approach, but helps you to be accountable to someone other than yourself.
Especially if you work alone a lot, it can be a nice break.
You can get three free sessions per week, otherwise Focusmate costs $7 to $10 per month.
💸 Price increase
We're fast approaching a new year, and with it a good opportunity to give your prices a second look.
If (God forbid) it's been more than 12 months since you last adjusted your prices, it's time to add a few percent.
As always: Do it early, have your arguments in place and be prepared to lose some customers in the process.
For example, read this and this article to help you on your way.
🎉 2023 wrapped
🦉 99 years of wisdom from Charlie Munger
"Warren, if people weren't so often wrong we wouldn't be so rich."
This week we said goodbye to Warren Buffet's right-hand man, Charlie Munger, who checked out at the modest age of 99.
Charlie Munger was a guarantor of sharp commentary, and whether he's new or old on your radar, I highly recommend this interview with him.
(If you're on the more fun side, you can find five minutes of quick quips with Charlie here) .
